Walden University Online Degree

Walden University makes getting an online college degree easier than ever. Offering many different online degree programs, including master's and doctorate, the access allows for adults who are currently working to achieve their educational goals, regardless of their location. Walden University's motto is "a higher degree, a higher purpose" and this is reflected in their programs and divisions.

The Richard W. Riley College of Education and Leadership has with graduate and bachelor degrees in education, instructional design and technology, as well as child development. Walden University online degrees are offered in many of these types of areas. According to "U.S. News & World Report" in January of 2008, Walden University has the largest online graduate program in education by enrollment. Walden University's College of Management and Technology offers communication, business, information systems, and leadership degrees, focusing on social responsibility and international communication. The College of Health Science branches into the School of Health Sciences, with degrees such as "Master of Healthcare Administration" and "Master of Clinical Research Administration" and the School of Nursing, offering a master's degree in nursing. Walden University's College of Social and Behavioral Sciences offers a wide array of degrees from a Ph.D. in human services to a master's degree in forensic psychology.

Walden University's online degree programs are geared primarily towards working professionals. Many of the potential students do not have free time during normal school hours when they would attend class. Additionally, the online location means that the students do not have to spend time commuting.

Walden University is accredited like most of the online universities, some of the competitors being the University of Phoenix and Kaplan University. The University of Phoenix focuses heavily on working professionals earning their bachelor degrees, rather than on professionals with an existing degree continuing their education online. Kaplan University offers degrees earned on campus as well as online, trying to cover both bases. While some travelling may be involved for a fellowship through a Walden University online degree program, it is certainly not on-campus learning.
