Regent University Online Degrees

Have you visited the Regent University online degree program lately?

Regent University is a small Christian university based in Virginia Beach. In 1978, Pat Robertson commissioned Regent to produce high caliber Christian leaders and thinkers. Regent’s mission is, “to equip Christian leaders to change the world.”

Regent’s online school recently gained notoriety. In 2009, Online Education Database (OEDb) ranked Regent second in the nation for online schools and the top Christian school in the United States. Regent's six schools offer more than thirty fully-accredited graduate and undergraduate programs.

The online school offers degrees in English, Government, Communications, Education, Business, and much more. Some programs can be completed from Bachelor’s through Ph.D., completely online. Regent welcomes all distance students to visit the campus when possible, but streamlines the program so this is never imperative.

Regent’s fully-functional campus enrolls over 4,000 students. Campus based students have access to excellent professional development opportunities. The Washington D.C. campus allows government students to network and participate in their field. The Hollywood Connect Program, sponsored by the School of Communication and Art, transitions students from school to the arts. Regent also exposes students to current leaders through guest lecturers such as John Ashcroft and Steve Forbes.

The late Jerry Falwell’s Liberty University offers a widely marketed online school also ranked high by OEDb. However, Liberty and Regent are very different schools. Liberty began as Liberty Baptist College, and philosophically remains the same. Regent’s strong Christian roots are non-denominational. Liberty is primarily an undergraduate school. Regent is primarily a graduate school. As late as 2005, Regent only accepted undergraduates as upper-level transfers. Undergraduate programs are still limited.

Regent’s rigorous academics and explicit Christian leadership focus make it unique. From the beginning, Regent purposed to develop high-level Christian thinkers and leaders. Their programs demand academic excellence.
Tuition and Admissions requirements vary by school, but costs hover around $11,000/year. Financial aid and scholarships are available.
