Not being nervous when giving speeches
Avoiding nervousness during speeches in college
Nearly everyone gets nervous when in front of a bunch of strangers while giving a speech in college.
But one of the best things one can do to avoid speech nervousness is to really know your topic. This means constantly preparing for that speech.
Have note cards handy during your speech which highlight important keywords in your speech in order to stay on topic when giving a speech. Many people get their jitters when they mess up during a speech!
Make each note card worth about a couple minutes of talking about the topic or keyword on the card.
Always introduce yourself when you first get up there and never tell the audience you are nervous during your speech. This can make you even more nervous during the speech.
Be sure to thank the class after the speech and ask for any questions. Make a separate note card to highlight this.
