Eligibility Requirements for Stafford Student Loans
The maximum amount that can be borrowed can be based on whether you are a dependent student, whether your parents qualify for a PLUS loan and whether you are an undergraduate or a graduate student.
The eligibility requirements include:
• Part time enrollment, at least, in an eligible degree or certificate program
• U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
• Not be in default on any existing student loan
• Have a high school diploma or equivalent
• Have good academic record
• Have not already borrowed the maximum allowed in the program
• Have satisfied all Selective Service Act requirements
